Women in Careers

Are you happy with your life right now? When I was a little girl, I thought 24 would be the perfect age to get married, settle down, and have kids. Well, I’m 25 now and sure as hell not married nor do I have kids BUT I do have my Master’s degree, a career, and am completely financially independent.

I was recently asked where I see myself in 5 years and was explicitly told NOT to include my personal goals outside of my career. I have never been asked this question by another woman until this week. MIND BLOWING. I feel like conversations between female acquaintances typically revolve around significant others, the latest beauty trends, families, and any kind of drama we are going through at the moment. This isn't to say women are not motivated or educated, but society has driven us to ask the superficial questions first. Let's delve into our hopes, our dreams, our passions, and our GOALS.

I thought it over and want to share a couple of my career goals with you!

1. Obtain my post graduate clinical licensure (LCSW-allows for private practice and billing private insurance companies)

2. Receive an excellent summative review

3. Create a successful multifaceted empowering brand

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN, LADIES! A WOMAN ASKING ANOTHER WOMAN: What are your career goals in the next 5 years?
